How do I decide which plan makes the most sense?

Each plan offers the same types of benefits—Trauma Counseling, Lost Wage or Student Financial Assistance, Recuperation, and Accidental Death—but with different coverage maximums.

Consider factors like your financial responsibilities, dependents, and risk exposure (for example, working in a public-facing or high-stress environment). Many individuals select a plan that would cover at least three months of income or major out-of-pocket costs if a traumatic event occurred.

If you're a couple without kids, considering individual Gold Plans versus the Family Plan would get you higher benefit maximums for just $15 more/month.

How does the Recuperation benefit work?

The Recuperation benefit provides reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses related to recovery. That includes costs such as medical, dental, vision, or hearing care, pharmaceuticals, and deductibles or copays not covered by other insurance.It can also be used to offset lost wages of a family member providing care during your recovery. Simply submit receipts or documentation when filing your claim.In the event that a pharmaceutical addiction begins while in recovery, this benefit will also cover the costs of rehabilitation or treatment.

What makes the Family Plan so valuable?

The Family Plan extends Trauma Coverage protection to your spouse or domestic partner and dependent, unmarried children up to age 19 (or 26 if full-time students).

All family members receive the same benefit protections—Trauma Counseling, recuperation, and repayment of lost wages—under one plan.

If a covered student is unable to attend school due to trauma, the plan provides $100 per day in financial assistance until they return or reach the benefit maximum.

“I purchased the Family Plan through my union and a few months later my daughter was assaulted during her first week away at college. She ended up needing to take the year off to recover physically and emotionally, unsure of when she’d return. My wife took additional time off from work to be home with her, and I also missed work while traveling to get her at the time of the incident. We received $75,000 in total benefits with Trauma Coverage.”
